Supreme has been defining streetwear for over 20 years. Rising from New York’s skating subculture to taking over street culture, and being the best in the game. In the process, the brand has mastered the hype phenomenon, with a well-curated, well-picked list of collaborators from Bape to KAWS, Dover Street Market, Kermit the Frog and recently Louis Vuitton. Supreme inhabits a place where all of these disparate influences can somehow coexist, with a rarely-explained logic. Therefore it’s no surprise the brand remained characteristically tight-lipped about the motivation behind its latest collab with the one and only Jean Paul Gaultier.

In the course of his career, Gaultier became the Enfant Terrible of the fashion world, breaking rules and boundaries, always marching to the beat of his own drum. He defined an era when he designed Madonna’s iconic cone bra in 1990. His genius of eccentricity and indelible influence on pop culture has earned him decades worth of street credibility, which even Supreme could take their hats off to. With this collection Jean Paul Gaultier introduces his legend to a new generation. How poetic then that the lookbook features Madonna’s daughter, Lourdes Leon.
